Barbara Gatewood

Barbara Gatewood, a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend passed away on May 22, 2023, leaving behind a lifetime of memories and a legacy of love. She was born on November 22, 1935, and grew up with a deep appreciation for the simple pleasures in life.

Barbara loved being outdoors and especially admired flowers. She had a passion for reading and spent countless hours crafting and solving crossword puzzles. Barbara also enjoyed scouring yard sales and flea markets for hidden gems. She loved spending time in nature and found peace surrounded by the beauty of God's creation. She was a proud member of Proctor Baptist Church and she loved her church family. She was even more proud of her son that was a preacher.

Barbara was married to her beloved husband Jerry for several years. Together they raised a beautiful family that includes children Pam Wicks and husband Ronnie, Jerry Gatewood and wife Barbara, Judy Drummond and husband Vernon, and Larry Gatewood and wife Shelley. In addition to her children, she leaves behind her sisters Gracie Burnett and Margaret Hall, brother Johnny Phillips along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Barbara is preceded in death by her husband Jerry Gatewood, parents John and Ruby Phillips, and sisters Vivian McClelland and Betty Gatewood.
