Breck Woods

October 20, 1959 — March 30, 2018

Breck Doyle Woods, son of Burlan and Bethel (Means) Woods, was born on October 20, 1959 in Colorado Springs, Colorado and departed this life on Friday, March 30, 2018 in Fayetteville, Arkansas at 58 years of age.

Breck entered life on October 20,1959. He entered it with a joke. He had one every time you ran into him, and if you weren't the butt of it, you always had a good laugh. He worked at Franklin Electric for 20 years, and in addition to that, he started a dairy with his wife Gayla in 1992. They were still milking until recently.

If you ask any of Breck's family or the community, at the forefront of his character was a firm belief in honesty. He was noted for saying that he would "rather get the short end of the stick himself, than wrong someone else." It was a quality that he worked hard to instill in his children and uphold within the family.

Of course, the second quality that people will mention is Breck's sense of humor. When this subject comes up, there will usually be a Breck story told by someone in the room.

He loved having people laugh and pulling pranks. The best ones usually involved his brother-in-law, Farrell Hamm. When he discovered craigslist, and realized that a person could post for free, he excitedly schemed to "get Farrell." This spiraled into him posting, ‘Goats. Free. They won't stay up and keep eating the neighbor's flowers. Either goats go or husband goes.' Then he attached Farrell's number. Chaos followed. Lots of people wanted free goats, and Breck laughed for days over that one. He also loved visiting the feed store where so many laughs and jokes happened because of him and at his expense.

Breck came from an old pioneer family, and he was very tied to the land. He cherished his values and morals. He had a love of land, and a love of cattle. He knew a lot about his chosen profession. He was intelligent, honest, caring and hardworking. There aren't enough adjectives or pages to describe the life he led and the huge void he leaves behind.
Breck loved and cherished his family. His family was foremost in his life. He loved his parents, wife and children. He loved his friends. Again, a few short paragraphs do not do him justice. He was so much more than that. He will be intensely missed.

He was preceded in death by his son: Trace Woods in 2016.

A loving and devoted family survives Breck. They include his wife Gayla (Hamm) Woods of the home near Westville, OK, children: Tyler Woods & Tosha Woods of the home, Tiffany Thomsen and husband Oran of Westville, Tom Woods of Westville, Tandra Woods of Fayetteville, AR, parents: Burlan and Bethel Woods of Westville, brother: Blake Woods and wife Donna of Westville and sister: Beth Woods of Westville, OK.

A host of other relatives and friends also survive him and all will dearly miss him.
