Charles Hubbard

Charles Emmitt Hubbard, age 91, was born on June 3rd, 1927 in Proctor, Oklahoma to William M. (Bill) and Jewell (Vaughn) Hubbard and departed this life on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Ruth, parents: Bill and Jewell Hubbard, brothers: Walter D. and Tommy J. Hubbard, sisters: Beatice Crow, Mary Jane Lane and Ann Clinton.

Surviving Charles are his children: Sonja M. of Lubbock, TX, Patricia Y. of Albuquerque, NM, Carl W. and wife Karla of Roland, OK, granddaughter: Kelsey Reane O'Connor and husband Danny, great granddaughter: Katie Kay O'Connor, also of Roland. He is survived by several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Charles attended Proctor grade school through the 8th grade, then attended Westville High School through 11th grade. In 1945, he left school and joined the Army Air Force, serving in the 6th Army Air Force, 397th Bomb Squadron (B-17 Heavy Bombers). After his discharge from the service, he returned to Westville and attended high school in the spring and fall of 1947, completing his senior year and graduating. In January 1948, he joined the U.S. Air Force and retired as a Senior Master Sergeant in 1969 after serving 23 years. He then pursued a career working for the Air Force as a civil service employee (GS-12) at Holloman AFB, Alamogordo, New Mexico, managing the Officer's Club and the NCO Club until the fall of 1978, when the family moved to Westville.

During the years of active duty, Charles traveled to many countries and states. He served in Korea from 1951-1952 with the 67th TAC Recon (Photo, Reconnaissance and Flare), Alaska from 1959-1961 (accompanied by the family) and Bermuda from 1964-1967 (also accompanied by the family). Other assignments included: Puerto Rico, Aleutian Islands (ADAC), Japan, Okinawa, Panama, Texas, Wyoming, Colorado, New York, California, Arkansas and Oklahoma.

He was a member of many organizations, including the Masonic Lodge (Scottish Rite), Shriners of the Far North Division in the Fairbanks, Alaska Chapter, Eastern Star, American Legion, Club Managers Association of America and Disabled American Vets.
