Elsie Howard

Elsie Elizabeth Howard daughter of Andy and Lilly (Williams) Turn was born September 3, 1939 in Westville, OK and departed this life on June 25, 2016 in Tulsa, OK at the age of 76 years, 9 months and 22 days.

Everyone who met Elsie fell in love with her and always had a kind word to say. She loved church, traveling and shopping, but her biggest love was spending time with her family. Elsie earned her GED and, with three small children at home, returned to college and received a bachelor's degree in education to become a school teacher at Westville Public schools. She taught for 3 years and then continued to substitute teach with the school later. Elsie, along with her husband Jim, owned the Highland Park laundromat for several years. They then went on to manage Hereford Manor apartments before becoming full time caretakers at their farm in Westville. Elsie would say her greatest accomplishment was being a Sunday school teacher at the church they helped establish, Harvest Time Holiness Church. She dedicated her time and talent to helping her family come to know her Lord and Savior.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; Jim Howard, sisters; Charlene Winkler, Marlene Turn, mother and father in law; Fred and Louise Howard, son; Stephen Turnleaf Howard, son in law; Randall Hammer.

Elsie is survived by a very loving family that includes her children; Leanna Hammer, Lezlie Marshall and husband Tracy, Janet Fanning, daughter in law; Virginia Ray, 2 special sons; Alan Anderson and Michael Winkler, grandchildren; Danielle Arnold and husband Blazer, Brian Haynes and wife Jamiee, Jeff Haynes and Kia, Brooke Wilson and husband Dustin, Lacee Luethje and husband Ben, Skyler Fanning, Kyla Hammer, great grandchildren; Kaylee, Jaden, Isaiah, Chastin, Adon, Junamay, Sophia, Aubrey, Zane, McKale, Kamden, Kinzlee. One sister; Cathy Turn, 1 brother; Dale Turn and wife Oneta. Many beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends also survive her.
