Fannie Maxine Campbell

January 5, 1940 — July 17, 2024

Fannie Maxine Campbell was born January 5, 1940 in Christie, Oklahoma to Eunice Shafer and Francis R. Shafer. She entered into heaven on July 17, 2024, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, at the age of 84 years, three months and eight days.

On May 9, 1957, Maxine was married to Bob Quinton Campbell in Christie, Oklahoma. Their union was blessed with four children; Bobby, Dianne, Tommy, and Lora. She was a 1957 graduate of Westville High School. She received her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Education from Northeastern State University, Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She was a teacher at Sequoyah High School, Westville Public Schools and John Brown University. She tirelessly taught Math and Biology to her students for many years and impacted their lives.

‘Grandma and Grandpa’ loved to travel and see new things. They made many precious memories together. She devoted many hours of community service during Covid, making masks and working the food pantries.

She attended Christie Freewill Church, where she was the church clerk and a deacon’s wife. She was a born again Christian and loved her God. She had a dream on Monday morning, July 15, that she was at Baron Fork creek at Christie behind the store. Everyone that had been baptized in the creek that has already past, was lined up on the bank telling her ‘we are just waiting for you’. At 5:10 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17, they welcomed her home. What a reunion that was!

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bob, two brothers: William Shafer and Jackie Raymond Shafer.

She is survived by her two daughters: Dianne Davis and husband Keith of Westville, Oklahoma, and Lora Campbell of Westville, Oklahoma; two sons: Bobby Campbell and wife Jacki of Westville, Oklahoma, and Tommy Campbell and wife Brandie of Westville, Oklahoma; 16 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren; one sister: Linda Watt of Siloam Springs Arkansas; one brother: John Shafer of Westville, Oklahoma. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
