James David Hampton was born August 13, 1956 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma and departed this life on Sunday, April 10, 2016 in Chewey, Oklahoma at the age of 59 years, 7 months and 25 days. He was the son of William Lloyd and Marvie (Holland) Hampton. He attended grades 1-12 at Westville Public School and graduated in 1974.
Following graduation he worked for a while at Jet Stream Plastic in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, after which he became an egg producer and then a farmer/rancher for several of his remaining years.
In recent years David took great interest in acquiring more knowledge about Scripture and spent a lot of time both in formal and informal studies and personal study. In addition, he did some teaching sessions at Souls Harbor Church in Chewey, Oklahoma while attending there and also at Daystar Missions Church in Stilwell, Oklahoma where he later attended.
David was preceded in death by his parents Lloyd and Marvie.
He is survived by two sisters, Marilyn Joyce Lowe of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Francis Gail Webster and husband Sam Webster of Watts, Oklahoma; one brother, Gary Lloyd Hampton and wife Linda of Watts, Oklahoma; five nephews, Terry Reed of Lafayette, Louisiana, Scott and Timothy Webster of Watts, Oklahoma; Donathan Hampton of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Darris Hampton of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and several great nephews and nieces, and other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 10 am on Monday, May 9, 2016 at Souls Harbor Church, Chewey, OK with Pastor Robert Doba officiating. Inurnment will follow at New Hope Cemetery, Watts, OK.
