We are Celebrating the Life of - Jewel Christine Clinton Roberts - born November 16, 1930 in Baron, Oklahoma to Frank and Minnie Jane (Stancel) Clinton and departed this life August 30th, 2015 at the Circle of Life Hospice Home in Springdale, Arkansas at the age of 84 years, 9 months, and 14 days.
Jewel's soul's journey beyond this life started Sunday. Momma was a stay at home Mom and stay at home Grandma, so needless to say she had her hand in everything....not to mention one of the strongest women we've ever known. Another thing we will never forget about Mom - this gal had more nicknames than anyone else we've known...from Jewel, Tiny, Teenie, Tina and Christine, to Miss Jewel, Rufie or Ichabod- she would answer to any of them just the same. She fought hard against her illness and gave it a run for the money. We'd expect no less. But, now she's free from pain and suffering so, in essence - She WON! If there are public auctions, a place to fish, and Gaither Southern Gospel music where Mom is now - She is in Heaven for sure.
Jewel is preceded in death by her husband Ezekiel Roberts; her parents Frank and Minnie Jane (Stancel) Clinton, one brother Frank Jr. Clinton and three sisters - Juanita Gifford, Jennie Reed and Ollie Mae Patterson.
Zeke and Jewel were wed in 1950 and were married for 55 years; and to this union were born five children who survive her. Son, Greg Roberts and wife Rowena of Chewey, Oklahoma; Daughters, Sandy Poor, Nita Carr and husband Mike; Son, Jon Roberts and wife Christy - all of Westville, Oklahoma. Son Chris Roberts and Bill Mullen of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren. Two brothers, Henry Clinton and wife Jeannie of Cookson, Oklahoma; C.J. Clinton of Cleveland, Texas; one sister Sue Rackleff of West Siloam Springs, Oklahoma; and a sister-in-law, Clara Clinton of New Caney, Texas. A large host of extended family and friends also survive her.
Jewel was a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, she enjoyed quilting, crocheting, Bingo and watching The Price is Right. She always made us laugh - sometimes even when she wasn't trying. You know as someone gets closer to passing from this life, it's their soul you see the most. We saw our Momma's sweetest soul this past week - just as we saw in our Dad years back.
Peace to you Miss Jewel, our dear sweet Momma and Granny - this is not Goodbye, but until we see you again.
Funeral services at 2 pm on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at Roberts & Hart Chapel, Westville, OK with Sister Pauline Brown and Brother Audie Vaughan officiating. Interment followed at Downing Cemetery, Baron, OK under the direction of Roberts & Hart Funeral Home.
