Joy Mae (Kelley) Rowe, age 84, went Home to be with Jesus on September 14, 2017. She was born May 4th, 1933 in Redland Oklahoma to Walter F. and Addie (Brock) Kelley. While attending Gans High School Joy met and married her sweetheart John William Rowe on January 12th, 1953 in Van Buren, Arkansas.
Joy was a homemaker, a devoted wife and loving mom to her four children: Richard, Michael, Joseph and Barbara. Joy loved listening, singing and playing gospel music. She was a faithful Baptist and taught Sunday School for many years. Joy was known for making every birthday special with a homemade cake and her famous rocky mountain frosting. She also enjoyed gardening and had a special talent for caring for animals whether it be a stray, a family pet or any sick or wounded animal that needed nursing back to health.
Joy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John Rowe, four brothers, Rufus, Troy, Graden, and Bill Kelley. She is survived by a loving family who will cherish her memory including one brother Ed Kelley of Muldrow, Oklahoma, her sons: Richard Rowe of Tuolumne, CA, Michael Rowe and Wife Debby, Joseph Rowe and wife Pam, daughter Barbara Allbright and husband Greg all of Westville, Oklahoma. Grandchildren: Eric Rowe, Scott Rowe, Jessica Decker, Andrew Rowe, Elizabeth Joy Rowe and Caleb Rowe. Great-Grandchildren: Jackson, Keira and Keeton Rowe and Simon, Elliott and Oliver Decker.
Services were held on Tuesday, September 19th, 2017 at Roberts and Hart Funeral Home in Westville with Reverend Terry Mayes officiating. Burial was in Ft. Gibson National Cemetery.
