Karen Sue McCollum, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2025, at the age of 71. She was born on March 20, 1954, to Lena (Maxine) Faulkner and Gene Taylor, and she lived a life filled with love, devotion to her family, and deep pride in her heritage.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her cherished son, Robert Allen Pruitt; her sisters; Debbie Catcher and Donna Jean Taylor; and her brother, Edward Womack.
Karen's memory will be forever cherished by her husband, Tim McCollum of Westville, Oklahoma; her daughter, Leslie, and son-in-law, Nick Barrick of Vian; and her sons: Daniel Pruitt of Sapulpa, Michael and Corine McCollum of Baron, Steve Hensley of Peavine, Brandon McCollum of Westville, and Jamie and Bo Smith of Colcord. She also leaves behind siblings Barbara and Jim Green of Westville, Jimmy and Laura Womack of Edmond, Ricky and Betty Womack of Tahlequah, Anita Tinsley of Oaks, and Ruthie Victor of Tulsa. Karen was blessed with 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy and pride.
For many years, Karen served as a dispatcher for law enforcement. Her dedication, compassion, and strong spirit left a lasting mark on her community. She found joy in the simple things, especially her love for Dr. Pepper, her favorite TV show Swamp People, and her treasured collection of wolf décor, which reflected her deep connection to nature and her American Indian heritage.
A visitation for Karen will be on Wednesday, September 3, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 4, at 10:00 a.m. at Roberts Reed Culver Funeral Home in Stilwell, Oklahoma. Following the service, Karen will be laid to rest at Stilwell City Cemetery.
As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, we celebrate her laughter, her warmth, and the love she shared so freely. Though the world feels a little dimmer without her, her memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
