Kenneth Wayne “Kenny” Sherrin, 75, of Westville, Oklahoma, passed away at home after a long and courageous battle with multiple myeloma, a cancer he had lived with since 2011. Throughout his illness, Kenny demonstrated strength, determination, and resilience, facing each challenge with the same grit that defined the way he lived his life.

Born on Mother’s Day, May 13, 1951, in Prairie Grove, Arkansas, to Kenneth Newton and Juanita M. (Pace) Sherrin, Kenny spent nearly his entire life in Westville, the community he proudly called home. After graduating from Westville High School in 1969, he honorably served in the Army Reserve from 1970 to 1977 before returning home to build both his career and his life.

Kenny was happiest outdoors. He had a lifelong love of hunting, fishing, and raising and riding horses. In his later years, some of his greatest joy came from the simple moments spent at home with his beloved dogs, whose companionship brought him comfort and happiness.

A hardworking and resourceful man, Kenny owned two large chicken houses before starting his own business providing spraying services for poultry growers throughout the area. Those who knew him respected his willingness to always help others and never shy away from a difficult job.

Kenny also had a heart for serving his community. He volunteered as a firefighter in Westville for more than ten years and completed EMT training because he wanted to help people in their greatest times of need. After responding to a tragic accident involving a drunk driver and a pregnant mother, he found the emotional weight of that experience too great to continue working as an EMT. It was a reflection of the compassion he carried for others throughout his life.

Above all, Kenny treasured his family. He is survived by his sons, Bryce Allen Thomas, of Arkansas, and Kyle W. Sherrin, of Westville; his sister, Pamela Sherrin, of Texas; his grandson, Kyler Wayne Sherrin, Kyler’s wife, Tara, and their son, Stetson Wayne Sherrin, of Westville; five additional grandchildren—Brynli, Lizzie, Layden, Tyner, and Lynlie —and one other great-grandchild and numerous cousins and friends. His love for his family, his strength, and his generous spirit and very large personality will be remembered by all who were blessed to know him.

Kenny’s life was one of service, perseverance, and deep appreciation for the people, animals, and outdoors that brought him joy. Though he will be greatly missed, his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends and in the many lives he touched throughout his years.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at the Westville City Cemetery, Westville, OK. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Hope Cancer Resources, 5835 W. Sunset Ave, Springdale, AR 72762 in Kenny’s name. They provide free transportation to and from appointments for cancer patients.
