Lillian Wood

Lillian Beatrice Wood, daughter of James Lewis and Melinda Jane (Waters) Hern, was born on August 16, 1918 near Westville, Oklahoma and departed this life on Friday, February 19, 2016 at Siloam Springs Nursing & Rehab in Siloam Springs, Arkansas at the age of 97 years, 6 months and 3 days.

She married Chester Wood on July 30, 1938 and to their union 3 children were born; Betty, Wendell and Linda.

She loved to listen to gospel music and going to church. Lillian loved spending time with her family. She was of the holiness faith and had been a Christian for many years. Lillian attended church at the Westville Assembly of God as long as her health permitted.

Lillian was preceded in death by her husband: Chester, parents: James and Melinda Hern, brothers: Dennis, Cecil, Buford and Wayne, nephew: J.V. Kirk (that was like a brother and that her parents raised), sister: Neoma Terrell and 2 infant sisters, son-in-law: Waymond Self, sisters-in-law: Maudie Hern and Wanda Maggard.

She is survived by a very loving family that includes her 3 children: Betty Self, Wendell Wood and wife Sharon, Linda Scott and husband John Wayne, 4 grandchildren: Wendy Hampton, Darin Wood, Jeff Scott and Johnny Scott, 8 great grandchildren: Keina Reed, Krysti Teague, Kenzie Crites, Amber Sidebottom, Chad Wood, Johnathon Scott, Jarred Scott, Jordan Scott, 4 great-great grandchildren: Rayleigh Reed, Kase Reed, Jaxson Sidebottom, Mackenna Crites, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends survive her.

Funeral services held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at Roberts & Hart Chapel, Westville, Oklahoma with Bro. Mike Hayes officiating. Interment followed at Westville City Cemetery, Westville, Oklahoma.
