Modene Hammer

Modene Hammer age 93, passed away peacefully in her home with her daughter, Linda by her side on August 29, 2024.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 6, 2024 at the Roberts & Hart Funeral Home with Ricky Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Foreman Cemetery under the direction of the Roberts & Hart Funeral Home.

Visitation hours will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, September 5, 2024 at the Roberts & Hart Funeral Home. 

Modene was born April 4, 1931 in Adair County, Oklahoma to William David Hastings and Betty Viola (West) Hastings. Modene had six siblings; two brothers and four sisters. 

Modene married the love of her life Dick A. Hammer of May 9, 1947. Together they were blessed with three children Linda, LeRoy, and Diana. She was also a proud grandmother of 5, Lana, Dan, Nikki, Heather and Hope; 15 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. Modene and Dick lived in several states during their 73 year marriage while Modene embraced her role as a dedicated homemaker. In addition to raising her children she was a talented seamstress and retired from Safeway after 20 plus years as head clerk. 

Modene was a devoted Christian and actively involved in church activities. She was known for her resilience and unwavering love she shared to all that knew her. Modene is preceded in death by her husband Dick, son LeRoy, and all her sibilings.

She is survived by her children Linda Bishop of the home, Diana Atwater of Tahoe City, California and a cherished brother in law Bob Galyean of Westville, Oklahoma. Numerous nieces, nephews, great grandchildren and a host of friends who will remember her with deep affection and gratitude.

Modene’s legacy of love, faith, and family will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family and friends.
