Nina Quick

July 9, 1934 — October 28, 2022

Watts, OK

Nina Lea Quick was born on July 9th, 1934, at home in Chewey, Oklahoma to Everette H. Lingle and Eva (Ballew) Lingle.  She was the youngest of 5 siblings: Ella, Willie, Lucille, Buck and Jimmy.  He siblings called her Nancy Jane.

Nina married Richard K. Quick on January 29th, 1954.  They had 2 sons, Tip and Rick Quick.

Richard and Nina ran the Watts Conoco Station for about 12 years.  Nina was a very hard working person in whatever she was doing, whether helping Richard pick polk, cutting wood, or whatever task needed done.  She even occasionally went Coon hunting with Richard.

Nina worked at Watts School for 20 years, retiring in 1995.  She knew all of the children, and made many friends with them.  As longs as Nina was there, she was feeding her kids.

Nina loved to work in her flowers.  When she lived on the farm, she converted the yard into a flower park.

She moved to West Siloam in 1993 to be near her sister, Willie.  She planted flowers around her trailer and mowed her yard herself for many years.  People were always asking for starts from the flowers in her yard.

Nina was always cleaning her house and rearranging furniture, pictures, and whatnots.  She had a house full of ceramic pots and animals that her mother had made years ago.  One of her favorite sayings when you went to visit was, “I need to clean this nasty house.”, but you could look around and not find a speck of duct or something out of place.

She babysat many of her grandchildren when they were small and loved them all, letting them get away with things that her children never got away with.

When Nina became dependent, she moved back to Watts to live with her son, Tip  and Genevieve, her daughter-in-law.  She enjoyed her two grandchildren, Ethan and Lydia, every day.  She loved the hugs and kisses.  Nina was a “hugger”.

Her parents and siblings preceded her in death.

Nina is survived by a loving and devoted family that includes her two sons, Tip and wife Genevieve of Watts, OK, Rick and wife Pam of Broken Arrow, OK.  She has 8 grandchildren, Shawna Conner, Bradley Quick, Keith and Kyle Allen, Zachariah Quick, Ladeana Dyer, Lynsey  Wilson and Patrick Quick.  She also has a host of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, all whom she loved dearly.
