Wayne Elmer Parkhurst was born September 29, 1936 in Vinita, Oklahoma to Noah and Artie (Morris) Parkhurst and departed this life on November 27, 2016 in Stilwell, Oklahoma at the age of 80 years.
Wayne currently resided in Westville and attended Westville High School, graduating in 1955. He worked as a shipping expeditor for Franklin Electric Company for several years until his retirement. Wayne was a member of Lightning Ridge Community Church.
He was a great fisherman who enjoyed talking with anyone. He and Anna Janes enjoyed their Sunday drives on the local back roads. Wayne enjoyed smoking chickens which he did on a weekly basis until recently as his health declined.
Those who preceded him in death include, his parents, one son, Danny Wayne Parkhurst, one brother, Daniel Parkhurst and one sister, Gladys Hairgrove.
He leaves behind, Anna Janes, of Westville; stepson, Jerry Parkhurst, of Pittsburg, KS and stepdaughter, Sherry Deason, of Stilwell; and nephews, Wylie and Sue Hairgrove, of Ft. Collins, CO and Clark Mercer, of Denver, CO. Other family members include, Paula Brockway, Travis Reeves, Karen Reynolds, Jared Reeves, Lisa Lyons, Lacy Lyons, Jason Lewis, Justin Reeves, Jeff Watt, Kayla Watt, Jesse Watt, Sara Reeves, Katie Reeves, Adrian Bartholomew, Amanda Bartholomew and several great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at the Roberts and Hart Chapel in Westville with Bro. Jim Beavers officiating. Interment will follow at Old Baptist Mission Cemetery under the direction of Roberts and Hart Funeral Home.
