William Atchison

June 10, 1934 — December 24, 2018

William Lavern ‘Bill" Atchison, son of Edgar William and Eula Mae (Gibson) Atchison, was born June 10, 1934 in Sentinel, OK and departed this life surrounded by loved ones in Springdale, AR at the age of 84 years, 6 months and 14 days.
He was a very loving husband, father and grandfather to his family. He was married to Ima Jean Gann on Sept. 8, 1951 in Lawton, OK and to this union 3 sons were born; Eddy, Danny and Billy. He was saved and baptized on January 24, 1975 by Bro. Harold Jones in Farmington, AR and never wavered from his faith. He was a devoted member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church for many years and attended faithfully while his health permitted. He worked hard to provide for his family. He did trucking for many years and retired from Baldor Electric after 20 years of service. Bill enjoyed metal crafting, woodworking, and sand bass fishing but most of all enjoyed time spent with his family.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; Ed and Eula Atchison, son; Danny Atchison, In laws; Riley and Leola (Hastings) Gann, brothers; Charles Edward "Chuck" Atchison, Sammie E. Atchison, and brothers in law; R.D. Gann and Jack Stout.
He is survived by a very loving family that includes his wife of over 67 years, Ima Jean Atchison of the home in Westville, OK, sons; Eddy Lavern Atchison and wife Gloria, William Dean "Billy" Atchison and wife Tara all of Stilwell, OK, grandchildren; Dewayne Atchison and fiancé' Tracy Creekmore, Dianne Hall and husband Robert, Shelly Jennings and husband Reymond, Tiffany Rowan and husband Eric, Emily Luethje and husband David, Katelynn Stricklen and husband Jesse, Daniel Atchison and wife Tina, Nick Atchison, and Maci Atchison, Great grandchildren; Johrdan Dobbs and Brendon, William Lee Atchison, Courtney and Blake Burrows, Kaytlind Neal and James, Colton, Brooklynn, Kynzie, Brayden Atchison, Harper and Paityn Rowan, Emma and Niyah Luethje, Parker and Maverick Stricklen, great-great grandchildren; Macie, Mason and McKenna Dobbs and Memphis Neal. He is also survived by siblings; Irene Stout, Jim Atchison and wife Bonnie, sisters in law; Frances Gann, Wilma Oxley and Johnny, Vicky Moorehouse and Marie Atchison. Several nieces, nephews, other relatives, many friends and church family also survive him.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 28, 2018 at Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, Westville, Oklahoma with Bro. David Luethje and Bro. Glenn Hopkins officiating. Interment followed at New Hope Cemetery, Chewey, Oklahoma under the direction of Roberts & Hart Funeral Home, Westville, OK.
