Bobby Cusick

April 10, 1945 — March 17, 2023

Former Resident of Baron, OK

Bobby George Cusick, known to all as Bob, was born on April 10th, 1945 in Geary, Oklahoma to Warren Yewell and Carmen America “Betty” (Kerr) Cusick and departed this life on March 17, 2023 in Fayetteville, Arkansas with his beloved wife and daughters by his side.

Bob graduated from Shamrock High School, Shamrock, TX.  He was very athletic and enjoyed track and field. He went to Texas A&M for a year.  Bob loved every minute of it and his time there made him a lifelong Aggie fan.  His family moved back to Oklahoma and settled in Geary after he left for college.  Unfortunately, his mother, Betty, fell ill and he came back to Geary to help his family.  At that time, he transferred to Southwest Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma and graduated.

Bob loved his father, Warren, and was so immensely proud of him.  He would tell anyone and everyone about Warren’s time with the 10TH Mountain Division during WWII and his career with the Rock Island RR.  That is where Bob learned his love of railroads.

Upon graduation from college, Bob was hired by the Frisco Railroad and moved to Arkansas to run a depot.   He continued doing well with the railroad until he was offered a position at Frisco headquarters in Chicago, IL.  After a time up north, he decided to come back to Oklahoma and try his hand as a rancher in Davis, OK. He enjoyed his time on the ranch, but transportation and trains were in his blood and calling him back into the business.  Bob returned to transportation in third party logistics; working with the railroads and trucking companies.  His biggest customer was Wal-Mart Stores. During this part of his career, he worked in OKC, Dallas, Siloam Springs and Westville, before retiring to care for his wife, Myrna.

Bob and Myrna moved to Baron, OK in 1994 and started ranching.  They raised registered Angus Cattle and many other animals over their 25 years on the ranch.  They loved their time there and missed it every day after they moved to Fayetteville, AR.

He made many friends in Adair County. Bob loved spending time visiting and fixing Sunday breakfast for all of his friends.  He was always smoking meats and making beef jerky to share with anyone and everyone.

Bob was a very giving and generous man. He would help anyone in need in any way he could.

He will be remembered and deeply missed.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents: Warren and Betty Cusick, brother-in-law: Bobby Finch.

He is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Myrna, daughters: Marla Brummett and husband Mark, Kelley Porterfield and husband Justin, grandchildren: Jacob Brummett (Jennifer Nofire), Rachel Brummett and Caleb Brummett, great grandchildren: Jaze and Mabry Jeune, sisters: Sunnie Jean and Pam, nieces and nephews: Bradley, Adrian, Mary Grace and Miranda and brother in law: Carroll Finch and wife Jenny.  He also leaves many other relatives and friends to remember him and mourn his passing.
