LeRoy Hammer, son of Dick A. Hammer and Modene (Hastings) Hammer, was born on February 11, 1951 in Longview, Washington and departed this life to be with our Lord on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 in Stilwell, Oklahoma.
He graduated from Tahoe Truckee High School in 1969 and attended 2 years of college. He began his career as a grocery clerk and worked his way to assistant manager for Safeway Stores in Lake Tahoe and Reno, Nevada and also at Railey’s until his retirement. He then moved to Oklahoma to live with and care for his parents. He continued working as a carpenter and had his own business until his full retirement. LeRoy did a lot of genealogy research on his families during his retirement.
LeRoy loved the Lord and his family. He went to church all over, LeRoy was an ordained Minister. He loved visiting new churches and making new friends.
LeRoy was his Mom’s Big, Good Son. He gave her a peppermint every day.
He always enjoyed visiting relatives. He also enjoyed getting a Sonic breakfast every morning.
LeRoy was preceded in death by his father: Dick Hammer.
He is survived by a loving family and many friends. They include his mother Modene Hammer of the home, sister Linda Bishop of the home, sister Diana Atwater of Tahoe City, CA, uncles Bob Galyean of Westville, OK, and Jack Williams of Watts, OK, nieces Heather Baker of Reno, NV, Hope Rausis of Merced, CA, Nicki Gibson of Gardner, KS, Lana Long of Garnett, KS, nephew Dan Bishop of Santa Fe, NM, numerous cousins in Washington, Oklahoma, Louisiana and his lifelong friend Bud Orr of Montana.
LeRoy will be deeply missed every day.
