Noble West

May 22, 1936 — December 15, 2022

Westville, OK

Noble Lee West was born on May 22, 1936 at Chewey, Oklahoma.  He was the son of William J. (Buck) West and Gladys (McKinney) West.

He passed away on December 15th, 2022 in Stilwell, Oklahoma at 86 years of age.

A childhood accident left Noble unable to hear or speak.

At the age of three years, his mother took him to the Oklahoma School for the Deaf in Sulphur, Oklahoma where he remained for several years returning home only on holidays and during the summer breaks, during these times, he would teach his family members how to sign.

Noble was extremely intelligent and was very much a people person.  He had a smile for everyone.

He never had to look for purpose and meaning in his life, his was and is a beautiful story.  He found true worth and satisfaction in giving and helping others.

He held a strong belief in God, and often spoke of the fact, that he would be able to talk and hear when he got to Heaven, but at the same time was so thankful for his eye sight, not just seeing, as most of us know it, but a much deeper and spiritual sense of the word - He would often sign to us, "Some people are blind but I can see!"  At which time he would smile and raise his hands toward Heaven!  Thank you, God, for giving him the wisdom and the insight to know you, though, he never heard a voice or spoke a word!

He worked at several jobs throughout his lifetime, the last being at Baldor Electric, where he retired after twenty years of employment.

Noble was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, several aunts, uncles and three brothers, Hubert, W.A. (Dub) and Billy Reigh West.

Family members left to cherish his memory are: one daughter, Kari Michelle Hollingsworth (Joseph) of Rockford, IL. One grandson, Anthony Harris (Staci) and two great grandsons, Aiden and Alex Harris, all of Cassville, MO; also three sisters, Linda Lohmeier (Steve) of Peoria, IL, Ina Jackson of Dallas, TX and Faye Tibbits of Westville, OK.  He also leaves several nieces, nephews and many, many friends.

Our family cannot write the final chapter of Noble's life on earth without saying thank you to two of his dearest and closest, lifelong friends, Carl Lee (Coorie)  Manning of Westville, OK and Robert Parker of Stilwell, OK.  Thank You! The two of you are the best!

We find great joy in knowing that when Noble closed his eyes for the last time, and Jesus said "Welcome Home, my good and faithful son", that he was able to hear him!  We can only imagine!

Thank you, God, for putting him in our lives!

His remains will be interred at the Foreman Cemetery in Westville, OK, near his parents and brothers.
