Patricia Lindsey

September 27, 1938 — November 2, 2020

Westville

Patricia Ann Lindsey, known affectionately by friends and family as Pat, Trixie, Mom and Grandma, went to be with our Lord on Monday, November 2, 2020 at the age of 82 years, 1 month and 6 days. Her favorite bible verse was John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Without a doubt, we know that Pat is now smiling and enjoying her promised everlasting life with God.

Pat was born to George Blackwood and Alice Scraper Blackwood on September 27, 1938, at the Cherokee Nation WW Hastings Hospital in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She was the eighth of ten children. Pat was predeceased by her mother and father, and her nine siblings; Raymond Blackwood, Eugene "Bun" Blackwood, Maygene "Biscuit" McCarty, Douglas Blackwood, Emmett "Boots" Blackwood, Emma "Dink" Watson, Cecil Blackwood, Quannah Blackwood, and Lana Sue Hawkins, and her son-in-laws, Billy Benge and Jorge Singleterry.

Pat attended Baron Fork School until 4th grade, and attended the Seneca Indian Boarding School from 5th through 9th grade. She then attended Westville High School, where she graduated in 1957. Beyond high school, she attended Parks Business School in Denver, Colorado.

In 1959 Pat met her husband of 60 years, Al Lindsey, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. They were married on February 26, 1960, and to this union  four children were born.

Pat worked outside the home as a caregiver, a cook, office staff, and she had a long and successful career with Levi Strauss & Company, after spending 35 years with the company she retired from Levis in 1995.

During her life she raised her four children, and helped raise her grandchildren.  She considered herself as a second mom to her nieces and nephews and loved them like they were her own. She provided a loving and nurturing presence for all who knew her, and loved with all her heart. Pat had many gifts and talents. She loved to sew and was an accomplished expert seamstress, she took great pride in making clothes including formal wear for her children and many others.

She loved to cook and she loved picnics on the creek and really just any reason to get together with her family for dinner.  She was famous for her yellow tote full of homemade biscuits.

Pat enjoyed watching cooking shows, going to flea markets, spending time with her dogs, and running around with her best friend/sister Lana Sue. She especially loved attending any sporting events, celebrations and any other activity that involved her family.

She attended Fellowship Baptist Church and had a deep and unwavering faith in God and her savior, Jesus Christ. She professed her faith and she was saved and baptized in February 1962. She loved to cook for church dinners, socialize, listen to singing, and take the grandchildren to church.  She loved her church family dearly.  She loved to participate in her church activities, she started months in advance and something she took very seriously was the mother's day hat contest in which she won for several years in a row. During the summer, she took great pride as head cook for the King’s Outpost Church Camp.

Pat is survived by her husband, Al Lindsey of the home, and her four children. 2 sons; Mark Lindsey and wife Linda of Peavine, Oklahoma and Paul Lindsey and wife Brenda of Claremore, Oklahoma. 2 daughters; Lisa Benge of Sallisaw, Oklahoma and Ruth Singleterry of Westville, Oklahoma. She is also survived by her eleven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends. Her genuine smile lit up any room, and her light shined brightly for all to see.  She is greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
